Break Up With Bad Skin And Fall In Love Again

It’s nearing the end of the year and Christmas decorations are going up, reminding me that yet another year has passed. December is a favourite month for many. For me, a combination of it being the season of Christmas and favourite month of travelling places December as my most beloved month of the year.

December is also the month of bonuses and generosity. Many pamper themselves with a small gift or a splurge. Some may walk into a boutique and buy a birkin or a Celine, others may indulge in something simpler such as a spa treatment. For me, I resolve to fall in love with myself again, after almost a year of neglect and abuse.

If you habitually get into a love-hate cycle with your skin like me, here’s how to fall in love with your skin again.

Step 1. Break Up With Droopy Skin

Sagging faces haunt me. Therefore I invest in easy, fuss-free non-invasive face lifting treatments annually to stop time and gravity from pulling my face south.

I like Ulthera for its non-surgical facelift effects. Using ultrasound energy to reach the SMAS layer to stimulate collagen renewal at its core, this treatment creates microzones of thermal injury deep beneath the skin and gives your skin a natural-looking lift gradually over the next 3 to 6 months. While it is not painfree, it is not prohibitively painful.

Thermage creates a natural, skin tightening effect by using radiofrequency energy. Thermage works well for sagginess due to thin, crepey skin while Ulthera works well for mild to moderately heavy faces that can be improved with a little sculpting.

Trinity Facelift Program at SW1 Clinic combines Ulthera and Thermage and plumps up my collagen bank for the next 12 months.

Step 2: Stand Up To Pigmentation

Pigmentations are unnecessary and unfair. Like a bully, they appear after without much warning and aim to traumatize and cause ruin to skin that has lived a perfectly spotless and un-intimidated life.

Try the Picosecond Pigment Laser to get rid of pesky pigmentation such as sun spots and melasma. Quattro Toning by Pico Discovery laser at the SW1 Clinic uses 4 laser settings to break skin pigments into a fine dust, which is more efficiently cleared by the body naturally, compared to traditional pigment lasers. The treatment is also safer than traditional lasers, because of the ultra short pulses therefore risks of hyperpigmentation is very low.

Step 3: Get Even With Bad Texture

Bad skin textures lurk in the skin like depression. They do not do much presently to the body, but they show themselves up to the world readily.

The Fraxel Restore resurfaces the skin using the 1550nm wavelength and is great for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage and acne scars. A handheld device is glided across the skin, treating below the skin surface, stimulating production of natural collagen and smoothening skin on the surface at the same time. Improvements can be seen after a single session!

Step 4: Heal Scars With Rejuran Healer

Acne scars are like memories of bad breakups. You are glad the acne is gone, but the scars remain and give you the occasional shudder when you are reminded of the bad experience. The good news is, scars fade gradually over time, but  deep ones take a long time, and usually never fully go away.

Heal the acne scars with Rejuran Healer, a skin rejuvenating treatment made of salmon DNA extracts. Rejuran’s healing effects have been shown in studies to include improved skin elasticity, hydration, skin tone, texture, thickening of skin, regulation of oil production and overall reduced fine lines and wrinkles. Rejuran Healer is NOT a skinbooster, which is made of very soft hyaluronic acid fillers. The results of Rejuran are seen more gradually, stimulating your skin’s natural repair processes and is probably more long-lasting.

Step 5: Shine with BB Aquatouch Laser

Overcome your usual inhibitions and find your new and better skin with SW1 Clinic’s BB Aquatouch Laser. Using a BB Thulium Laser, this treatment treats with the 1927nm wavelength and is the bane of sun damaged, dull skin and pigmentation.

This treatment is guaranteed to brighten dull skin within a single session, and skin adopts a dewy and luminous glow, like applying BB cream onto skin!
