That means, if you weigh 120 pounds, start consuming 60 ounces or the equivalent of about 8 glasses of water daily to adequately hydrate yourself.

Apparently, the science behind drinking more water to lose weight is not new.


Firstly, by consuming more fluids, you’ll be replacing the water lost in your body and thus, preventing your body from retaining extra water. This is because dehydration causes your body to store extra water and to absorb water from stools, resulting in constipation and bloating.

Finally, to boost your efforts, avoid salt which cause you to retain more water and excessive carbohydrate intake.

“Consuming a meal or snack that only contains carbs will create a jolt of insulin production in your body that will create body fat at unbelievable speeds,” says Dr. Passler.
